🐲 Boss Overview

The powerful enemies in Breath of the Wild are divided into four categories: Divine Beast Bosses (Calamity Ganon Phantoms), Overworld Bosses, Final Battle, and DLC Bosses. The table below lists them in recommended challenge order.

🌊 Waterblight Ganon (Vah Ruta)

Moves: Spear thrusts, sweeps, spear throws, creating ice pillars. Core Mechanic: The arena is flooded. The Cryonis Rune is key to this battle.

Use ice pillars to block his thrown ice pillars, or directly freeze his spear to interrupt him;
Summon an ice pillar in front of you while he charges to force him into a stagger;
In Phase 1, he floats low. Attack his eye with a spear or arrows for a critical hit to knock him down;
In Phase 2, the water level rises, and he flies into the air, throwing ice pillars. Use ice pillars to build a bridge to reach the floating platforms and continue shooting his eye.

::: tip Bring plenty of defense-boosting food to turn “one-shot kills” into “survivable hits,” making this battle much easier. :::

🔥 Fireblight Ganon (Vah Rudania)

Moves: Giant sword sweeps, leaping slashes, fireballs, shield charging. Core Mechanic: Remote Bombs can interrupt his charging.

In Phase 1, circling behind him or staying under his feet is safest. When he raises his sword, backflip/sidestep to trigger a Flurry Rush;
At half health, he envelops himself in a fire shield and absorbs energy to summon a giant fireball;
Throw a round Remote Bomb at him while he’s absorbing energy and detonate it to break the shield and make him fall;
After the shield breaks, he reverts to normal fire attacks. Use ice arrows on his eye or utilize updrafts for paraglider shooting.

🌪️ Windblight Ganon (Vah Medoh)

Moves: Cannon volleys, tornadoes, summoning turrets. Core Mechanic: The arena has updrafts, which can be used to launch into the air for bullet time.

He likes to keep distance. Launching into the air with updrafts and shooting his eye is the most efficient damage method;
At half health, he summons multiple floating turrets and makes attacks bounce between them;
Prioritize using bullet time to shoot down the turrets. Fewer turrets mean weaker attacks;
He uses a laser similar to a Guardian’s. Shooting his eye interrupts it.

⚡ Thunderblight Ganon (Vah Naboris)

Widely considered the hardest of the four Divine Beasts. Moves: Teleporting thrusts, electrified greatsword, metal pillars with lightning. Core Mechanic: Magnesis Rune and Parry.

When he charges, raise your shield to Parry, knocking him back and causing a stagger;
In Phase 2, he electrifies his greatsword and plants metal pillars in the arena to summon lightning;
Use Magnesis to grab a metal pillar and move it next to him, causing the lightning to strike him;
Normal attacks are ineffective when he holds his shield. Use shock arrows or Parry to break his guard, then go all out;
It’s recommended to wear the Rubber Set or eat shock-resistance food to avoid being electrocuted and disarmed.

🐍 Yiga Clan Leader Master Kohga

Triggered after entering the Yiga Clan Hideout. He constantly teleports and throws explosive balls.

When a ball flies toward you, use a weapon attack to hit it back. Hitting him directly deals damage;
When he summons a giant iron ball, use Magnesis to lift it above him and drop it;
In Phase 3, he rolls into a ball to charge at you. There’s a clear warning before impact; simply dodge sideways.

🪨 Overworld Boss Quick Reference

::: warning Lynel Strategy Lynels are the most dangerous overworld enemies in the game. Parry + headshot is the universal solution; you can also use Stasis to freeze it and go all out. The shock arrows fired by Lynels can disarm you, so using a wooden shield is recommended. :::

🏆 Calamity Ganon (Final Battle)

If you’ve freed the four Divine Beasts, each Champion will use their Divine Beast’s power to remove 1/8 of Ganon’s health, totaling 1/2. Therefore, it’s strongly recommended to complete the four Divine Beasts before the final battle.

Phase 1 (Ground Form):

His moves combine those of the four Blights: fire breath slash, tornado, metal pillar throw, ice pillars, Guardian laser;
The fire breath slash can be dodged with a backflip/sidestep to trigger a Flurry Rush;
When he throws a metal pillar, stay away to avoid being struck by lightning;
The laser can be Parried back, causing a major stagger. This is the primary damage window;
At half health, he opens an impenetrable shield. Use Urbosa’s Fury (lightning) or Parry to break it.

Phase 2 (Dark Beast Ganon):

Ride a horse around him and use the Bow of Light to shoot the glowing spots on his body;
Be careful to avoid the Malice and tentacles on the ground;
Once all glowing spots are hit, it will auto-lock onto his head for the finishing blow.

Backup high-attack weapons + one high-durability weapon
