🛡️ Armor Enhancement & Great Fairy Fountains

English

Armor enhancement is the most effective way to improve your survivability. Each upgrade level significantly increases defense, and some sets unlock set bonuses. The key to enhancement is finding and awakening the Great Fairies.

🧚 Great Fairy System

  • There are 4 Great Fairies across the map, each sleeping within a flower bud;
  • The awakening cost increases based on the order you unlock them, regardless of which specific fairy it is;
  • Awakening one fairy raises the maximum enhancement level available from all Great Fairies by one;
  • Each Great Fairy can enhance any armor piece, with identical effects.

::: warning Cost-Effectiveness Order Level 4 enhancement requires the 4th Great Fairy, who demands 10,000 Rupees. It’s recommended to upgrade your gear to level 3 first and unlock the last fairy later in the mid-to-late game when you have more funds. :::

⬆️ Enhancement Materials & Process

  3. If you have sufficient materials, confirm the enhancement for 0 Rupees (enhancement itself is free, only consumes materials);
  4. Armor must be enhanced level by level; you cannot skip levels.

🎨 Armor Dye System

At the Dye Shop in Hateno Village, you can dye armor using materials.

  • Each dye job requires 5 materials of the same color or 1 corresponding color material combination;
  • You can dye armor back to its original color;
  • Some equipment (like Fierce Deity, Barbarian) cannot be dyed;
  • Dyeing is purely cosmetic and does not affect stats.

💡 Practical Tips

  1. Prioritize Climbing Gear in Early-Mid Game: Essential for climbing towers, cliffs, and collecting Koroks;
  2. Enhance Ancient Armor Before Fighting Guardians: Combined with ancient weapons for explosive damage;
  3. Save Dragon Parts: High-level enhancements consume them heavily; don’t sell them casually;
  4. Don’t Sell Star Fragments: Many level 4 enhancements require them;
  5. DLC Fierce Deity/Barbarian: Attack bonuses are extremely helpful for boss fights;
  6. Froggy Armor (Tears of the Kingdom): Prevents slipping in rain, transforming exploration experience.
